20 bags of rubbish mainly from around 2 areas of
trees by the hostel. I thought it was a real shame
that the first thing visitors saw of the city was
piles of rubbish outside the hostel and caravan
club.
April at Gypsy Brae.
A
difficult area to clean as there were many brambles.
This area has remained very tidy and now only takes
a few minutes to clean up each week. It is used
regularly by people having picnics and bbqs
April by the side of the hostel.
This
is a heavily used area and there is a lot of rubbish
in the water run off by the side of the hostel.
Unfortunately it was a cold wet day but we still
managed to clear a difficult area of rubbish
The time I had been collecting
signatures on Saturday May 22nd for a
group to be formed to help look after the area and
to show officials and politicians that many people
are interested in taking care of the area.
The clean up on 20/21 March managed to clear
approx one fifth along the tree line. This was a very
heavily littered area with lots of brambles making life
difficult. A great effort by all though. The rubbish was
cleared by the council on time saving any litter being
redistributed by the local vermin.
Next dates are for April 17/18/19. On 17th April
MCS will clear the beach at Cramond for their regular
survey. On the 18th we hope to clear more of Gypsy Brae.
On the 19th conservation work and litter clearing will
begin on the wooded area shown.

On
Saturday March 20,
2010 and Sunday March
21, 2010if you could spare 1 hour (or more)
to help pick up litter at the far end of the course,
this will be of great help to get rid of a lot of
rubbish that has been around for a long time.
A much larger event is being
arranged in April to tie in with Keep Scotland
Beautiful and will hopefully include many other
local organisations.

if you can spare some time to a very worthwhile
project. Cheers, Ian
